Networking
What if you could chat online with your work colleagues while you're
having breakfast at home in your kitchen?
And what if, at the same time, your daughter could send a digital photo
to Grandma while your son was downloading MP3s?
Wouldn't it be great to listen to digital music coming through your
surround sound home stereo?
Or stream family videos you have just edited on your PC directly
through your 50-inch TV?

Entertainment
Stream digital entertainment from
your home network to your couch
NETGEAR’s
EVA700 Digital Entertainer plays all of your digital videos, photos and
music directly from your PC, NETGEAR Storage Central (SC101) or
streaming from the Internet right to your TV and home stereo system.
You can even play files saved on a USB storage device such as a USB
thumb drive, USB disk, iPOD™ or digital camera with a USB
interface.
EVA700
connects to your home network and the Internet without wires via an
integrated 802.11g wireless adapter, or a standard wired Ethernet
connection. If you combine EVA700 with the 200 Mbps Powerline HD
Ethernet Adapters (HDXB101 sold separately), you get high-quality,
reliable connections for hours of video and audio streaming over your
home’s powerlines.
EVA700 is compliant with Intel Viiv 1.5 and
up, and supports seamless access t o content, applications and services
available on Intel Viiv PCs. EVA700 also supports access to content
residing in Microsoft® Windows® Media Center PCs and
other UPnP AV
media servers such as Rhapsody® and TwonkyVision.

Wireless
Maximize Your Wireless Network
Wireless
networking, for all its value and simplicity, can sometimes be
frustrating. Stated performance is not always achieved. Coverage gaps
and connection drops can sometimes occur for seemingly no reason. It
can be hard to determine whether a link is secure. And sometimes adding
another access point makes things worse, not better.
It is
commonly accepted that wireless LANs rarely perform at specified rates.
There are many reasons for this, including interference from
non-network devices such as microwaves and cordless phones, and
interference from overlapping access points—yours as well as
others. In
addition, scores of users are often competing for the same network
channel. In larger wireless LAN installations, a best practice is to
undertake a site survey to determine the optimal physical location of
each access point as well as channel selection. Site surveys are
expensive and time consuming, so they do not happen as often as they
should. (Some users try to fix coverage issues by installing more
access points, which can increase interference and compound the
problem.)
NETGEAR offers value priced, reliable wireless
access points and client adapters with state-of-the-art embedded RF
management technology that maximizes the performance and eases
deployment of your wireless network.
Lower Costs
Since
AutoCell is completely self-organizing, and requires minimum human
intervention, this reduces employee overhead associated with
deployment, management, and maintenance, such as site surveys and
channel maps. With ever-increasing usage of wireless devices,
interference and resulting poor performance are more prevalent. A
NETGEAR Wireless Access Point maximizes performance automatically, and
adapts to ever-changing conditions.
Stronger Security
The
NETGEAR ProSafe Wireless Access Points offer many standards-based
security features, such as (802.11i) Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA2), and
Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP). AutoCell creates an additional level of
privacy by providing self-organizing micro cells for businesses. In the
Enhanced Privacy mode, AutoCell shrinks the size of coverage to the
minimum to reach clients, while also shrinking the size of the beacons
that announce its presence. This mode, which requires AutoCell in both
the client and access point, makes the wireless LAN nearly invisible to
users outside an office building, as it transmits only to the most
distant AutoCell-enabled PC. AutoCell clients such as the NETGEAR
ProSafe Wireless PC Cards are highly recommended for enhanced RF
Security.
Main Office
Network
Opportunity
The main office is taking
over new services (as for example VoIP Phones) for the regional branch
or branch offices. The network is not designed for a high reliability,
a backbone failure will take a high damage to the company. Also the
servers are not designed for a redundancy connection to the network. In
a case of a network disturbance will all offices disconnect from the
main office, data center and telephone network.
Needed
A
high reliability backbone and server connection with high performance
Gigabit Ethernet backbone. Fast Layer 3 routing availability in the
backbone to improve the performance across subnet networks with high
prioritization for Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), video
surveillance cameras (IP cameras), and video applications
- Reliability network architecture in the
backbone with VRRP redundancy server connection with LDAP
- Easier administration and support with
Management
- Backbone connection for power user with port
trunking
- Fast routing redundancy across network subnets
with VRRP
- High prioritization for Voice over IP (VoIP)
applications
- Power over Ethernet (PoE) connection for IP
phones, access points or IP security cameras
Branch Office
Network
Opportunity
Your company is growing
and the server connections on their LAN are too slow. Your IS manager
is unable to detect network problems. The system is not equipped to
upgrade to high-density wireless. Your remote workforce is unable to
access files or communicate to headquarters safely and inexpensively.
Needed
A
reliable source for enterprise-class products at mid-market prices to
help build a scalable, secure, and managed network solution.
